Originally by: Renan Ruivo I've never looked too much into Clear Skies. As far as i know, it is a fanmade machinima movie, right?
But is it considered canon by CCP?
Go watch Clear Skies 1 and 2 and then come back.

Clear skies is either alternate universe or PRE-pod pilot era. Also the ship scales are smaller (a frigate is more like a fighter respectively).
WRONG, it is not an alternate universe and nor is it pre-pod pilot era. Not all ships in EVE are flown by pilots dear boy, and the ship scales are no different either. Have you actually watched any of the Clear Skies films?

I've never seen anyone mention Pod pilots in clear skies during my dozen viewings of both movies.
Ship scales ARE different. Go and compare the size of a tempest battleship (500 meters long) with the sets of Clear skies. (don't tell me John ran over 250 meters from the bridge to the elevator in clear skies 1 AND 2 in under 10 seconds.) If you look at the tempest bridge for example you can see in those windows it has 6 levels, where the tempest in the movies has only 2 levels. (and thats presuming CCP's texturework is actually accurately portraying its size).
You poor sad bastard. Just because POD pilots are not mentioned suddenly they don't exist? As for your other extremely lame points, have you ever heard of artistic license?.

I think poor Ian just went to bed instead of officially announcing this, all those years of hard work probably left him knackered. Much love Ian and team, and thanks to Chribba for hosting it. Now all we need is for more of you filthy lot to start seeding it.

Originally by: Kharamete Totally awesome stuff this! Now, if there is ever a fourth installment - which I seriously hope - the least CCP could do in exchange for the free publicity and the new subs is to give Ian and the team help in transferring these characters to Carbon.
* Get the art department to "copy" the models to Carbon * Give the crew of Clear Skies their own special ships * And for the love of Amarr's God, give the man a job!
Agreed on the "totally awesome" point there, as well as perhaps bribing Ian and Co into producing a 4th film As for the models used, they couldn't do that with any of the internal scenery or people as they are the property of another games company.
Ian and his friends most certainly ALL deserve a one off copy of a Tempest with the "Clear Skies" logo affixed to the hull, like the Alliance Tournament prizes, for all their hard work and "free promotion" of EVE to the masses

Originally by: Culmen Edited by: Culmen on 02/06/2011 14:57:00 Heres the thing, Ian handles comedy and action very well... Drama not so much, I personally was almost cringing at the whole "oooh Barney is sad, because the Maelstrom got ganked" or the overblown scene at the memorial. It might not be Ian, it might be the fact that he's working with computer generated puppets, but it doesn't change the fact that the drama scenes were cliche ridden and had no real impact on the story. There were so many of them that it frankly overwhelmed the good bits of the movie.
Also... I'm bugged by lack of even basic accuracy to the game, that's a high meta level smart bomb not an old-school DDD. Speaking of which, last i checked, the Caldari DDD was a missile swarm, not a beam....
Because so many massive Hollywood blockbusters that rake in hundreds of millions of dollars are accurate and portray real life? Even when they are about REAL events.....Pearl Harbour anybody??
